JPEG DAO Membership Updates
JPEG DAO has enjoyed tremendous growth over the past 6 Months. We began with an ambitious idea, and have now grown to 300 blockchain based members, over 1000 funded trustlines, and 400 people engaged in governance on our Discord Server! While delivering literally thousands of NFTs to our members, we have been listening to feedback from our users. Many users have been requesting more exclusive NFTs and an improved NFT-claiming experience. Other users simply want to hold JPEG and collect value. Over the last month, we finalized our 2022 membership changes and are very excited to share them with you!
Our member snapshot on December 31st will include 2 membership levels. Silver Members are wallets with at least 10,000 JPEG. Gold Member wallets must contain a minimum of 100,000 JPEG.
In early January, Silver Members will receive 1 Member NFT, while Gold members will receive 2 (the Silver Member NFT as well as a more rare Gold Member NFT). These will be sent as a claimable balance the same way NFTs were distributed in 2021. Later in January, we may send additional surprises to our members!
Starting in February, JPEG DAO will be implementing a new system that allows greater options for members to choose the NFTs they receive. Rather than sending NFTs to holders, we will be sending members a new token that will be redeemable for NFTs of their choice. Silver members will receive 1 token while Gold members will receive 11 tokens. The name of the token is TBD through a community vote. Membership will continue to be based on an end-of-month snapshot system.
1 token will typically be redeemable for 1 NFT. We will be minting 1 NFT per week with a supply of 100 copies. As membership grows, we will mint more often to keep up with demand. The redemption process will be through a special Litemint link on our website. We will also mint extra special NFTs that sell for 5–10 tokens depending on rarity. These NFTs are designed for our Gold Members.
In addition to receiving more tokens, Gold Members will have access to enhanced benefits as the year progresses. Join us on Discord to help us imagine what these new benefits might be (Metaverse tickets, real life events, merchandise, etc). One of the allures of being a member of the JPEG DAO is the fact it is a DAO, and members steer the ship. To get the most value from any DAO participation is key.
